Fine Regulator Longcase Clock

SKU: 15149 Categories: ,

Description

Circa 1790, a very fine timepiece regulator, signed John B Jackson. In an under-stated mahogany case of small dimensions, being only 6′ 2″ tall. Powered by a very light weight, the heavy lead-filled brass pendulum bob on a wooden rod. Jewelled pallets, dead-beat escapement and maintaining power. Six spoke wheels. Silvered dial with blued steel hands.
This clock was in Charles Freeman’s jewellers shop pre WWII and had a name plaque over the maker’s name giving the appearance that the clock was made by Charles Freeman!
It passed from him to Edward Freeman, Croyden, and from him to Miss Freeman, Trinity Trees Eastbourne who is recently deceased. The clock has been looked after by me since 2004 and is in excellent working order.
